postheadericon Thanks Debbie

I'll mail mine out on Monday when I get home.

It has been fun and I'm looking forward to playing with postcards with Ann and Mom when I visit in May (and Maureen if she makes it while I'm there).

postheadericon OK....it's time to exchange!

OK everyone, Don has drawn the names for the exchange of your postcards;

Mother's goes to Mary

Nancy's goes to Heather

Deb's goes to MaryAnn

Mary's goes to Mother

Ann's goes to Deb

Heather's goes to Ann

MaryAnn's goes to Nancy

Yeah!!! So Everyone mail out your card to it's new owner. Wasn't this fun? And all the cards were so good!

The next deadline for completion will be May 25th, and I'm still taking theme suggestions for those of you who would like to work with a theme. Deadline for suggestions is May 1st. Also by May 1st I need to know who is going to participate in May's exchange.

Thanks everyone for playing along!
Deb

postheadericon A Parents theme

That could be a fun idea! Thanks Heather. I think that what ever theme we come up with, we'll make it optional, so as not to put any pressure on anyone.

So I'm still taking theme suggestions till May 1st, but you don't have to limit yourself to the theme if you don't want to. I don't know about anyone else, but I just love getting these postcards....theme or not!

I like working with a theme because it helps me focus. But not everyone needs that kind of structure. So we'll have a theme, but keep it optional so everyone can do what is comfortable for them. After all, this is FUN!

And tomorrow is the day we'll find out where to send our cards from this month!!! I can hardly wait!

postheadericon The exchange day is almost here!

2 days to go! All the cards look beautiful!! I am so excited to see everyone having fun with this.
I did get an e-mail from Maureen that she would not make our deadline. I am sorry, but hopefully, she'll be able to do it next time.

And speaking of next time....May 25th will be the deadline . This time I think we'll have a theme...sound like fun? I am open to suggestions for the theme of the month. If you have an idea you'd like to do, then post it here. We'll take suggestions until May 1st. On that day, I'll announce the next postcard challenge. So if there's a theme you'd like to see...nows the time to speak up, cause if you don't I'll have to choose.

And I think next time, and for the next few..we'll have assigned recipients. This time it will be totally random as to who gets who's card. But I think it would be nice to eventually get one from all who participate. So after this time when we see who gets who's, I create a list for the upcoming months so everyone will know who they're making their card for that month and rotate it so we each get at least 1 from everyone playing.

Great job everyone..I'll be sending out the mail to list on Friday night. I will e-mail each person and also post the results here on the blog.

Till Friday....

postheadericon Wow!

All the postcards look great! I'm glad the instructions were clear enough to follow.

Thanks for posting the photos Heather and good luck!

We moved today and I've got SO much work to do I don't know when I'll get back to making postcards but hopefully soon. I did make my one for April before the move so I'm all set!

postheadericon Heather and Mary Ann's postcard

The sweet pea is mine, which isn't totally done yet. I need to put the back on and finish the edges.
The sun is Mary's postcard. She did complete hers today, but this pic was taken on Sunday. So I haven't seen her finished product!

I was really surprised at how easy it is to make the postcards. Grant it, all of your great step-by-step directions may have lended a little help!!!! (hahaha!) No......Because of those directions, good ole Nancy (aka Mom) was a fabulous teacher! I'm looking forward to finishing mine, hopefully before I go into labor... found out today I am 2 centimeters and wishing for 10 centimeters by morning!!!

postheadericon Mom's Postcard

She will be sure to tell you that I photographed it upside down! But, to me, the stem belongs below the flower:)

postheadericon Another flower

This one is very similar to the last one, only simpler. The background is onle solid piece and the flower, stem and leaves were cut from felted wool. It doesn't ravel, so you don't need to finish the edges. Then I beaded the center.Went pretty quick and is kinda cute. I think I'll keep this one!

postheadericon And another

This one I made today for Don's sister. I use wool felt for the flower, leaves and stem. The beauty of the wool is that it doesn't ravel, so you don't need to finish the edges. I cut the leaves and stem and flower center with a decorative edge rotary blade that I got at Joann's. Then I sewed beads in the center and flower petals.
Simple and quick. Took about 2 hours ... including the beading.
See Mary, I'm using the stuff I buy :)

postheadericon More inspiration

Here are two postcards by Mom - one using buttons and brads (see Debbie's tutorial by clicking here) and the other by cutting out a fabric picture and appliqueing it to the background.

You can find a lot of fun buttons at Joann's but don't forget to check out Michael's bead and scrap-booking supplies. The brads can be found in the scrapbook isles at Joann's and Michael's.

As Mom found it is better to AVOID using the buttons with shanks and use ones that you can sew through. This site shows both kinds http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Button.

postheadericon Let the fabric do the work

Like Mom's postcard - these leaves were cut from a piece of fabric and appliqued to the background.
